Happy Halloween-OSU style!

Dan and I carved and painted our pumpkins for Halloween this week. We never like to carve ordinary jack-o'-lanterns so this year we made OSU pumpkins. I'm sure anyone who knows Dan is not at all surprised by this! :) One of the pics is even complete with a Halloween kitty!

Happy Birthday

Thursday, October 18th was my 25th birthday! It was a great birthday week. My dear friend Caitlin took me to Cameron Mitchell M for dinner on Monday to kick off the birthday festivities. It was awesome. On Wednesday my co-workers and I went out for a supervisor outing. We went to Der Dutchman, it was delicious and I ate way too much. It was a smorgasbord of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, chicken and noodles and more!!! Even though it was the day before my birthday my co-workers were thoughtful enough to get this cute little old guy who walks around playing the harmonica to play "Happy Birthday" and "You are my sunshine" to me. They even gave me a little birthday cake. It was awesome! Afterwards we went bowling and I blew everyone away with a score 80. (ha ha!) So, then on Thursday Dan stayed home from school to cook me breakfast and take me to work. I really didn't want to go to work but when I went in I was so excited to find my desk covered in pink decorations and several gifts. At a meeting later that day everyone sang happy birthday to my boss and I (we have the same birthday-crazy huh?). That evening Dan picked me up and surprised me with long stemmed pink roses-my favorite and took me shopping! He also made me a little picture scrap book to keep at work with pictures of us. I can't believe how crafty he is! On Friday we went out for my birthday dinner at Macaroni Grill. It was so yummy and the chocolate birthday cake at the end just made it that much better. It was a wonderful birthday week! I think it will take me a couple of weeks to recover from all the sweets though! :)

Cake Decorating Class

In September I took the first Wilton cake decorating class with Lauren and my friend Marie. It was so much fun. We learned how to do the shell border, make three different kinds of leaves and make roses! These are my first two cakes so they're not perfect but I'll keep practicing. The cake to the left was red velvet so I accidentally got crumbs in the icing...darn! I also didn't have any green icing for the leaves so blue had to do. :) Lauren was a natural of course! I can't wait to take the next 3 courses.
