Maybe cats do have 9 lives...

Our little cat Charlie has had some breathing problems since we got him and we finally figured out why. He has a herniated diaphragm and pretty much all of the organs that should be in his abdominal cavity are in his thoracic cavity. As a result one of his lungs is collapsed. He was most likely hit by a car before we got him. So, today he had major surgery to correct all this and everything seems to have gone fine. We get to pick him up tomorrow. I know it may seem silly to have such an extensive surgery done on a pet but he has filled a place in my heart that I haven't been very successful filling with something else. ;) We are very thankful!

Another year older....(sigh)

I turned 26 years old on the 18th....Aghhhh! I can't believe it. It doesn't seem old when other people tell me they are 26 but it feels old to be 26 myself. I had a wonderful birthday!!! Dan and I got to go to the temple Saturday morning which is rare for us since I usually work on Saturdays. Then we went to my parents house and hung out all day. We ate tons of pizza and watched the OSU game. I'm glad they had such an awesome game on my birthday because I was a little worried. :) We carved pumpkins and then went to Walmart and tried on a bunch of Halloween Costumes. My mom even made the birthday cake she used to make for me when I was a little girl.

Oh yeah....Did I mention I got a cricut! Horray for Dan being the best husband ever!!

Our new kitty!

It's been a while since our last post but not much has been happening. We did get a new kitty though. We found him on Craigslist. He had been hanging around this ladies house for a while and was homeless. He's super sweet! He really really really likes human food and he begs for it like a dog. I've never seen a cat do this! He also follows Dan and I wherever we go. We didn't really want a cat but couldn't stand the thought of him being homeless. We're crazy about him now though. Oh yeah and his name is Charlie.

Bienvenido a Miami

Dan and I took a trip down to south Florida this week and it was wonderful! We went to South Beach and did some shopping in the Art Deco district and took a walk on the beach. We had lunch at Pamela's deli, a delicious Chilean restaurant. I got to try a completo, churrasco, empanadas (Chilean style-there is a difference), pastel de choclo and torta de mil hojas. It was all really good but my favorite was the torta which is lots of layers of thin cake with caramel in between...yum! Dan was in Chilean heaven!! While in Miami we also went through little Havana and took a tour of the everglades. Riding the airboat was actually a lot of fun except for the fact that we had to stuff toilet paper in our ears because it was so loud. We saw lots of alligators and I got to hold little Snappy-a one year old alligator. He was super cute but the guy told us not to kiss him because he would kiss back-haha!

When we weren't in Miami we spent most of our time on the beach. Fort Lauderdale was awesome and we highly recommend it to anyone that is going to FL. We could see the bottom even when we were waist deep in the water- it was beautiful! I could go on and on and on about how beautiful it is but I'm sure you can see from the pictures. :)

The icing on the cake was the fact that there was a Krystal (if you're from the south and you've ever left you understand the excitement! :))right in front of our gate in the Atlanta airport so we got to have a Krystal burger before heading to Ohio-delicious!

Ladies and Gentleman the class of 2008!

Both of my little sisters graduated this year. Caroline graduated from high school and Laurn graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Animal Science (that's why she has animals glued to one of her caps below). We're so proud of both of them. I can't believe how fast time flies! It's seems like just yesterday that Lauren and I were just little girls waiting at the hospital in the middle of the night for Caroline to be born. We were so excited. I love you both!
Lovely Lauren

Just up to our usual sisterly shinanigans...

She did it! Isn't this a cute pic of Lolly?

Crazy family! My dad is not amused...

Girls will be girls! (okay...I don't make a good kissy face)

Beautiful!

Summer Fun!

This weekend my family had a small reunion at Cedar Point. It was sooo much fun. When we arrived on Friday morning it was storming and we were so sad. We were trying to find ways to entertain ourselves in the car. After about an hour the rain cleared up and the sun came out. Luckily the rain drove everyone away so we didn't have to wait in line to ride any of the water slides. It was so much fun to all be together...we missed you mom and dad!

Soak City!!!

Dan was sure to get a pic of me chocking to death-thanks love. :)

The view from the ferris wheel. I had to recover after the cork screw and magnum did me in. :)

May Update

It's been a while since out last post so here's a little bit about what we've been up to.
Now that warm weather is finally here we planted lots of flowers. We found this fun mix called celebrity mix that had a mix of all these different colors-lovely! Now I just have to try not to kill them! :)

I made this cake for one of my best friends, Aihua. She she's expecting a baby boy this week. It's the first cake I made for someone other than a family member.

We went to the circus. It was actually so much fun! I felt like a big kid. My favorite part was the elephants and these ladies-I'm not sure what they're called. They were amazing!

Dan and I ran the race for the cure in memory of our great-grandma's who died of breast cancer- both of which were named Lucille. It was very emotional.

Happy Birthday to two of my favorite people!

Dan- The sweetest and best husband ever! He's so patient with me and always treats me like I'm a queen. I'm not sure what I've done to deserve him. Dan makes everyday life so much fun! I can't imagine life without him. I'm so lucky to have a husband who is also a best friend! I love you Dan!

Lauren-aka Brenda, Lolly Dolly, Brynn and Burns. Unfortunately she has had to endure these and many other crazy names I've called her. She's such a sweet sister and one of the smartest people I know. When we were kids one of her favorite hobbies was writing reports out of the encyclopedia! :) Lauren's been a great example to me every since I've known her-24 years wow! And when I was little I asked my parents if I could call her my friend and I've thought of her that way ever since! Love you Lauren!
