This past Saturday all the Snavely clan came over to our tiny apartment and we had our gift exchange. It was so much fun! After opening the presents we went to Der Dutchman for dinner. If you've never been there you should definitely go. It's an Amish buffet and everything tastes like it's made from scratch! After stuffing ourselves some of us came back to the apartment and had cake- just what I needed! :) It was soooo much fun!

My Wish List

My sister (who drew my name for our gift exchange) made the remark tonight, “What do you get for the person who has everything?” I would first off like to deny the claim that I have everything and also say that I can think of plenty of things to buy for myself! :) In an attempt to give my sister some good leads (I think she reads my blog) I’ve decided to make a list of things on my wish list!
1) Vintage ornaments from Shiny Bright
2) A mercury glass candle holder or bowl
3) Apothecary glasses
4) A letter S (I’m starting a collections of S’s for my wall)
5) Satsuma oil from The Body Shop

More cake fun!

This weekend I made my first decorated cake. The only other ones I've made were for class. It wasn't perfect but I was actually happy with the outcome. I made it for Dan's mom's birthday which was Dec 14th (the D is for Deb). The really cool thing is that it was my grandma's birthday too (on Dec 15th) and her name was Darlene so I kind of felt like I was making it for two wonderful ladies rather than just one! :)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The day after Thanksgiving we went and got our Christmas tree. This year we got an 8 footer! We love Christmas so much! Here's Dan getting the tree ready to bring in and put in the stand.
Here it is all decked out!

And on Monday we made a gingerbread house for fhe. It was so much fun! I've never been able to make one without having the roof cave in but this year was different...ta da!

Things I love

Tonight I have such a bad case of insomnia I decided to get on the computer...exactly what they tell you not to do. :) But I'm tired of laying in bed staring at the clock so I've decided to make a list of things I love!

1) MY FAMILY- I have the greatest family ever! They support me so much and really teach me about what true love really is; especially my husband Dan who is the sweetest man that ever lived!

2) MY RELIGION- I think that without it I wouldn't even have an identity. It has shaped my entire life and is the reason behind every good decision that I make.

3) OLD MOVIES- Some of my favorites are The Sound of Music, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, State Fair, Moonlight Bay, Roman Holiday...I could go on and on!

4) CLASSIC ROMANCE NOVELS- My favorite books of all time are Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre.

5) SHABBY CHIC STUFF- I love anything that is shabby chic especially stuff by Rachel Ashwell. It's so bright and cheery and really makes a room inviting.

6) COOKING-This is by no means to imply that I'm a good cook, just that I love to do it. I love to try new recipes and to bake. My dream is to own my own bakery one day!

7) MAKING CRAFTS- This is another thing that I'm not really all that good at but I really love to do it. Probably one of the biggest reasons is that I grew up watching my mom make beautiful things all the time...maybe one day I'll achieve her greatness. :)

8) THE CROONERS-especially Nat King Cole. I could listen to Nat, Bing, Frank, and Dean all day long and never care to hear a current song.

9) MY COUNTRY-I cry whenever the National Anthem is sung or any other patriotic tune. This really is the best country on earth!

10) GOOD FRIENDS- I really do have some wonderful friends who are so kind to me. I hope I can learn to be as great of a friend as they are one day!

11) CHRISTMAS TIME!!!

So this story is from a while ago but I thought it was fitting to post it after the exciting turn of events last night and today! THE BUCKEYES ARE GOING TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!! As the end of the Buckeye season was approaching I decided to get tickets to one of the home games and surprise Dan. I emailed our home teacher (who is by the way the best home teacher ever) a couple of days before the game and asked if he could help us find tickets to the game. I had been looking all over and people were selling student tickets for 100 dollars a piece and more! But Jeremy came to the rescue and called me the Thursday night before to say that he had found student tickets for us for face value...$30 a piece! I was so excited! On Friday night I told Dan that I had to work late and I went over and picked up the tickets. Unbeknownst to Dan I had also asked for the next day off...unfortunately I always have to work Saturdays. So when the alarm went off I got up and pretended to get ready for work. I reset the clock back by about 30 minutes so I would have more time and I went down stairs and cooked breakfast. At 6:45 I ran upstairs and told Dan I was ready to leave. When he came down stairs and found breakfast made he looked really confused. I still didn't want to spill the beans so I told him that I was going to work late that day and wanted to surprise him. He cleared the table off for me and found the tickets where I had hidden them under his school books. The look on his face was priceless!! He just rubbed his eyes and then started to jump up and down. We had a lot of fun going to the game. GO BUCKS!!!
