Happy Birthday to two of my favorite people!

Dan- The sweetest and best husband ever! He's so patient with me and always treats me like I'm a queen. I'm not sure what I've done to deserve him. Dan makes everyday life so much fun! I can't imagine life without him. I'm so lucky to have a husband who is also a best friend! I love you Dan!

Lauren-aka Brenda, Lolly Dolly, Brynn and Burns. Unfortunately she has had to endure these and many other crazy names I've called her. She's such a sweet sister and one of the smartest people I know. When we were kids one of her favorite hobbies was writing reports out of the encyclopedia! :) Lauren's been a great example to me every since I've known her-24 years wow! And when I was little I asked my parents if I could call her my friend and I've thought of her that way ever since! Love you Lauren!

Lots of Cakes!

Here are a few cakes I made recently. I've still got a long way to go but I'm so excited about all the new flowers I learned how to make!! My favorites are the daisy and daffodil!

Georgia on my mind...

Dan and I spent the week in Georgia because my sweet grandfather, Papa, passed away. We will miss him so much! I'm so happy for him though because I know that he is reunited with Grandmamma. It just happened to be Cherry Blossom time in Georgia, which is totally fitting because Papa loved flowers (Macon is famous for it's Cherry Blossom trees). It was wonderful to be with so many aunts and uncles and cousins that I don't get to see very often. I love Georgia! Even though I've been gone for 8 years now, I feel a huge sense of belonging when I'm there; it's home. Here are some pics from our trip and a few pics of us with Papa from last year.

We got to be there for the blessing of my best friend's beautiful baby girl, Laurel.

Yay I was tagged twice this week! Here's the first one. I'm still working on Marie's though, having a hard time thinking of 4 interesting things about myself. :)

How long have you been together? We started dating at the beginning of July 2005 and we’ve been married for one year and nine months.

How long did you date? We dated for 11 months.

Who eats more? Dan eats more in a sitting but I definitely snack more throughout the day.

Who said I love you first? Dan did. He kept telling for several days that he had something to tell me but when I would ask him what he would change the subject quickly. He finally actually said it a couple of days later.

Who is taller? Dan is.

Who has more speeding tickets? We’ve both had one.

Who is smarter? Well, I think Dan is but he says that I am. J

Who is more sensitive? I’m not sure about this one, we’re both pretty sensitive but I think Dan is more sensitive in a caring way and I’m more sensitive in that I get my feelings hurt easily.

Who does the laundry? We both do. I always laugh when Dan does the laundry because he hangs everything of mine up to air dry rather than putting it in the dryer. I think I scared him because I gave him a lecture when we first got married about throwing all my clothes in the dryer (although I didn’t say that nothing could go in the dryer). This was because growing up my poor dad would always shrink our stuff when he tried to help with the laundry. I guess Dan’s philosophy is better safe than sorry.

Who does the dishes? Dan does the dishes a lot more. It’s not my favorite chore so I usually pick something else to do.

Who sleeps on the right? Dan

Who pays the bills? Dan writes the checks I make the dough.

Who mows the lawn? We don’t have one. L

Who cooks dinner? I usually cook dinner although Dan is always willing to help.

Who drives when you are together? Dan does. I think the man should drive and it assures that we arrive to our destination in safety.

Who is more stubborn? Well when I asked what he thought he said that he was. I replied “Do you really think so?” And he said, “Not really I was just trying to be nice.”

Who is the first to admit they are wrong? I don’t know that I am the first to admit that I’m wrong but I am usually wrong because I have a bad memory.

Whose parents do you see more? Mine

Who has more siblings? Dan-he has five brothers I have two sisters.

Who wears the pants in the family? It’s pretty balanced but in the end when all is said and done I think Dan does.

Who eats more sweets? I do by far. I think I could easily drop 15 pounds if I stopped eating sweets-it’s bad!

Guilty pleasures? Reese’s Fast Break, tickling Dan’s feet-he hates it and he laughs so hard that he immediately breaks out in a sweat, and expensive makeup and hair products.

How did you meet? We were introduced at a singles dance in January of 2005. I didn’t think I had made an impression on him until six months later when he told me he remembered exactly what I was wearing the first time we met.

Who asked who out first? Well we first started hanging out as friends a lot. One night after we had gone bowling he started texting me lines from romantic songs that were popular at the time. He told me he was thinking about some girl that he liked. I thought he was so great that he would never like me so I didn’t have a clue. We continued texting for a while and then he finally asked me “aren’t you going to ask who the girl is?” I really didn’t want to because I didn’t want to be jealous but I went ahead and asked. He said that it was me and I was in shock! He asked me out on a date a couple of days later.

Who kissed who first? Dan kissed me on our first date. I guess that wasn’t really weird since I already knew that he liked me and we were already passed the “get to know you” phase since we had been friends for a while.

Who proposed? Dan

Best feature? His stomach-he has a six pack!

Best personality trait? He is very kind. That is what really attracted me to him when we were friends.

Pet names? Danimal, bop, poor guy I make up all kinds of nicknames for him.

Where do I see us in 15 years? We’ll hopefully have a lot of kids, a house with a yard and a dog.

What is your favorite thing about him? The way he makes me feel. Dan is so sweet. He is truly interested in everything I do whether it is decorating a cake, making a card, or talking about my newest diet. I know that he’s not really personally interested in those things but he’s interested in me because he loves me.

I tag Marie, Michelle, Rachel, Raven and Katherine.

Blizzard Conditions in March???

That's right! Our recent winter weather has been pegged "The Blizzard of 2008"! The most exciting part of it all is that when I arrived to work on Friday I was only there for two hours before they announced that they were sending us all home. Then this morning they closed our entire office for the whole day, almost two whole snow days! I feel like like I'm a kid again. Unfortunately I couldn't go out and enjoy it too much though because I've been battling a cold that worked itself into a sinus infection for the last month and a half-bummer! Here are a few pics.

Dan is the Man!!

Lately, I've been pretty sad because of something in my life that isn't going "as planned". I'm not really sure why I'm surprised though, I should have learned by now that things never go "as planned". I'm not saying that's a bad thing though because there are a lot of things in my life that didn't turn out the way I wanted them to but ended up being way better than I had ever imagined in the end. I guess I'm not very patient. I just need to remember to trust in my loving Heavenly Father and know that he always knows better than I do. Last night I was feeling pretty sorry for myself and I got mad that Dan wasn't paying me attention and was just looking at satellite views of Chile trying to find the places he lived in on his mission. So, I announced to him that I was going up to bed to read a book since he only cared about Chile (I was just being grouchy-deep down I knew this wasn't true). Being the sweet guy he is, he immediately followed me and gave me a big hug. Then he said he had a surprise for me. He went upstairs and got some manicure stuff I bought the other day and gave me a french manicure. I must say that he did a great job! I've tried to give myself one before and it looked horrible. I'm so thankful to have such a loving husband who shows me everyday how much he loves me!

Happy Heart's Day!

This year for Valentine's Day Dan and I went Scali's, a yummie Italian restaurant in Reynoldsburg. It was very delicious. Dan and I both picked the same dish-chicken with sundried tomatoes and artichokes. Dani and Chad got veal and it looked really good too! After dinner we went to their house and had lots of ice cream. I had more than my fair share of fudge brownie and strawberry cheesecake ice cream but I didn't even feel guilty because it was Valentine's Day! :)

Dan got me several lovely gifts for Valentine's Day! Letters that spell out love,

a dozen roses (my favorite!),
and a mercury glass vase!
The most meaningful gift by far though was the slide show he put together for me. It had pictures of us from when we first became friends all the way until now with little reasons why he loves me! He's the best!
